Sioux Lookout Airport: Information for passengers travelling to northern communities amid COVID-19

Information for Passengers

This information is for passengers at the Sioux Lookout Airport who:

  • Are attempting to return to a northern community AND

  • Cannot board their flight because they failed the screening process defined by Transport Canada

Please call the Northwestern Health Unit (NWHU) for more information:


Monday to Friday: 8:30 AM – 4:30 PM After hours: 1-866-475-6505

If NWHU instructs you to self-isolate:

  • Contact your Community Leadership or Health Director to determine what you should do prior to returning home.

  • Contact Sioux Lookout First Nations Health Authority (SLFNHA) Hostel at (807) 737-3850 to see if you are eligible to stay for the duration of your isolation.

  • If you don’t have anywhere to self-isolate in Sioux Lookout, contact the Out of the Cold Isolation Shelter (ages 16+). Let staff know that you’re showing symptoms and have been told to self-isolate.

If you need a ride to the Isolation Shelter, call and request the isolation van from: SLFNHA Hostel Transport at (807) 737-6166 Monday-Friday: 6:00 AM – 10:00 PM Saturday-Sunday: 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM

If you do not have access to a phone, ask an airline agent to direct you.
