Public Health Units

Public Health Unit is an official health agency established by a group of urban and rural municipalities to provide a more efficient community health program, carried out by full-time, specially qualified staff.

Ontario’s public health units deliver a broad range of population health programs aimed at improving the health of the community, protecting the health of all, and ensuring everyone has equal opportunities for health. Public health units are required to tailor programs and services to the local context and community needs.
